If Memorial Day was the beginning of the summer, then I guess Labor Day is the official end of the summer. The Lightners decided to end the summer as we started it... with a fire in the fire pit to roast hot dogs and marshmallows for dinner (with watermelon and chips not cooked over the fire!).
It is so weird to think that we have been in Iowa for almost 6 months now... including the WHOLE summer. It has been a good time for our family... lots of time together. In NH we always battled the Youth Group schedule and tried to find time to have family time, but this summer was different. Danny had a week day off EVERY WEEK that was dedicated to house projects (which there aren't too many when you don't own your home) and family. We have enjoyed being in Iowa, but we obviously miss friends and family like crazy. It is strange to have a holiday weekend without our NH friends and family to share it with, but it nice to spend this time with just the four... or five... of us!
