I Wanna go to AWANA!

Sorry for the corny title, but it was the first thing to pop into my head!

Grace and Hannah got to wear their vests for the first time at AWANA last night, but since Danny was away in NY and PA, I had to get some pictures to show him. Of course, I would have probably taken some anyway, but I immediately came inside and sent them to him before we left for church!  (What a good wifey I am!!)

Grace is in Sparks – Kindergarten and Hannah is in Cubbies – Preschool

Learning with Fruit Loops

I found this cool idea on Pinterest (I try not to spend too much time on there), and then I expanded it.  I started by collecting toilet paper rolls and wrapped them with different colors of paper and labeled them with the names of the colors.  I could have stopped there and Hannah would have loved it because she is able to “read” the names of the colors.

BUT…I then I gave each of the kids a pile of Fruit Loops and had them sort the pieces by color – put the reds in the red tube, the greens in the green tube, etc.  Grace and Hannah really LOVED it, but Siah is still learning his colors.  He just wanted to eat each one in his pile so he stuffed them in any tube so he could be done!  ;)    Once they had finished, they lifted the tubes and had nice piles of different colors.  We talked about which ones had more and which ones had fewer… THEN I let them eat and eat.  That was their favorite part!

I made these special pages for Grace to write her Sparks verses on for Handwriting each day.  The first several sections in her new book has a verse that corresponds with a letter in the word SPARKS. She has loved practicing her verses and writing at the same time.  It gives us a great reminder each day to review them! (Last night she said the first 4 sections in her book!  WAY TO GO, GRACE!!)

And here is her FIRST spelling pretest.  She got all 10 words right and even wrote the sentence containing the words perfectly.  She is impressive!  We have the final test tomorrow…. she is super excited!

4 months…already

Here is our little man… 4 months already!  He has now discovered his hands and loves to chew on them.  He is usually a slobbery mess with a drool-wet Onesie.  He is mostly content and lets us know when he is hungry or tired.  (I am curious to see how much he weighs at his appointment this week!)   He loves to grab things – the girls’ hair, balls, rattles, toys, etc.  He really wants to sit up and see what is going on around him.   I took a few of these pictures while he was strapped into a booster seat.

We all love this little guy… he is truly a blessing!

Jesus is the REAL Super Hero

The Beaverdale Parade is always a highlight in our church calendar.  The community gathers at our church, prepares their floats, and leaves from our parking lot.  This year’s theme was a Super Hero theme and Danny was asked to dress as one of the characters and OF COURSE he picked Super Man!  Earlier in the week he mentioned that he really wanted us to walk with the float and hand out candy and fliers, so on Saturday morning I gathered the kids, homemade capes for all four of them, the stroller, snacks, drinks, the Snuggli for Caleb, a blanket, sweatshirts, sun screen, AND THE KITCHEN SINK (HA!) and headed to church to join the group!

I didn’t have a costume, but everyone knows that a mom with four children HAS to be a super hero.. right?  :)

The Super Heroes… what a great looking bunch!DSC_0708

One of the other families had a few extra costumes…. Parker (a friend from Life Group) got to dress like Super Man and get his picture with my boys!  He LOVED it! Lookin good, Parker!

Apparently even Super heroes get tired!          I love this one of Jennifer!

Halfway through, they invited our kids to ride ON THE FLOAT!!  They LOVED IT!!

This sign was the best… it was a hoop with a bucket at the bottom. I don’t know how much candy they got, but it was a great idea!

Some people said Josiah was the highlight of the parade… or at least our float.  He had so much fun waving to the crowds of people.  He was ADORABLE!

Looks like the Lightner Gang will do this again next year…
