The birthday girl… part one!

I can’t believe that my amazing little girl is five… FIVE!  She is a whole hands worth!  Crazy!  Yup… crazy in love with my Grace!  I just love all of the little things that make her tick… like how she freezes when she eats yogurt, loves to snuggle with Pongo each bedtime, giggles at the small things which is contagious, loves to drink milk and get milk mustaches, easily memorizes her verses and anxiously waits for Bible reading time each night, adores chocolate like her mommy and daddy, enjoys reading and learning and makes my job of teaching a BREEZE, pretends after seeing a show, play or movie, adores her sister and brother, begs for me to snuggle with her, loves to dance with her “Prince Charming” and asks her daddy if he can marry her too and SO MUCH MORE!!  She is a true friend to me… it is great to say that we have a close relationship.  I value that and will continue to cultivate that so we can be close FOREVER – even as a teen!

Here is Grace Elizabeth as a baby:

(Grace wasn’t feeling well at the beginning of the week.  We didn’t realize that she had STREP!!  YUCK!!  She was on meds for her birthday and feeling a WHOLE LOT BETTER, but she doesn’t really look like her spunky self in these.  I will get her official 5 year old pictures when she is back to normal!)

For her birthday, Grace picked the meals.  She originally asked for cinnamon rolls for breakfast, cupcakes for lunch and then cake for dinner.  We had to tweak her menu, but left the cinnamon rolls for breakfast.  She even helped make them (ok… unwrap the package and put them in the pan!)

Her daddy wanted her to open her presents before he went to work.  She had several phone calls during the process, but loved every minute of it.

Here are the presents from Grampa and Nanna… she also got FIVE DOLLARS from them!!!

She got a new TOO MANY PUMPKINS book from Grampa and Nanna.  The old one was falling apart and had been repaired TOO MANY TIMES!!

Here are some gifts from PopPop and MomMom.  She got a set of Tangrams and clocks… she loves to play with BOTH of them!

Hannah and Josiah got Grace a new set of Twistable Crayons… she loves her old ones, but they are slowly running out of crayon!  Now she has new colors.

Danny and I know that our kids really don’t need anything and we hate to just get them things because it is their birthday or Christmas.  So we had to think and think about what to get for Grace for this birthday.  The idea stemmed back from a yard sale that we went to went we first came to Iowa.  She found a stuffed dog from 101 Dalmatians…. Pongo.  She LOVED it and even though I cringed at the thought of letting her take home a stuffed animal, I let her… and we washed him.  Ever since then she has slept with Pongo and has brought him with her everywhere… even to Florida.  So… we decided to get her Purdy, Pongo’s wife!  I hunted online for her but couldn’t find her until I went to ebay.  Danny immediately bought it for me and it came really quickly.  It was hard to not give it to her for over 2 weeks!  She was THRILLED and LOVED on it ALL DAY LONG!  Danny and I knew that we made the best choice!!!!

Grace told us that Pongo was THRILLED to see Purdy!  They greeted each other with lots and lots of kisses!
