Kuplink, kuplank, kuplunk!

No, I am not writing in another language!  Those of you with a love of reading children's’ literature will recognize this phrase… from Blueberries for Sal a classic by Robert McCloskey.  We thought a lot about this book last night as we had our “berry” own adventure! Last weekend when we were walking along a trail in the woods to a park near our house, we noticed lots of blackberries and blueberries growing.  Many of them were not ripe, but we knew that we had to return in about a week to get some.  And boy, did we get some!

We returned last night to get berries.  I brought along a container for each person to put their berries, a large container to hold all of berries, and my camera – of course!  We heard a lot of kuplink, kuplank, kuplunk at first, and then the sound died as we all gathered SO MANY berries, we filled the bottoms of our containers!!  There was A LOT of eating going on, but the kids stayed on task pretty well.  Overall, we gathered about 7 cups of blackberries… WOW!!   I will probably freeze some of them… which will be nice later to get some of this deliciousness!
