Without family around to escape to on the weekends, it has been a MUST for our family to find a retreat… somewhere for us to go to get away, to recharge, to be with our family and make memories. Hidden Acres has been that place for us. It is located only about a hour and 15 minutes from us. They have a Pastor’s Cabin that pastors and their families can retreat to for free. This is a picture from our FIRST retreat in June 2011:
And here we are March 2013. We went up on Thursday and stayed until late morning on Saturday. We basically had the whole camp to ourselves… we didn’t see many workers either. The kids love the outdoor activities as well as the indoor pool, gym, and games. We packed into our time as much as we could…but I got to rest a little during Caleb’s morning nap! That is vacation for me! :)
Checking out the deer hanging in our cabin…
The weather was SO nice on Friday. We just had to get out to explore. We bundled up the kids, put on boots and headed out into the woods. As you can see, there were a few snowball fights along the way and other adventures! (We were so glad that we did that on Friday. It rained on Saturday morning and made a sloppy mess of the camp!)
Hannah did NOT want to go out on our hike…
Stopping for a little picture… PERFECT! (Even Hannah looks happy now!)
They still had a few large snow banks which were calling my name. We just HAD to climb to the top… KING OF THE MOUNTAIN!
Hitting Daddy with snowballs… yes, he WILL retaliate!
Don’t you love outdoor pictures?!
Who are you going to throw that at? As long as I am behind the camera, I am safe!
Chillaxin’ with Daddy….
We brought brownies with us, but now we had to make some ice cream to put on them! YUMMY!
We ALL got turns shaking the bag. (We have a great ice cream maker from KK but we didn’t bring it with us!)
More to come….
