Friday at the Fair–part one

We got an early start on Friday and headed to the Fair for lots of fun and food!  The kids were looking forward to the barn chores, animals and rides while Danny was looking forward to the food (bets were on at church to see if Danny was going to try fried butter!)!

First on the agenda.. the petting zoo.  All THREE kiddos loved it!

Grace loved Little Hands on the Farm last year, so we headed there next.  BOTH girls enjoyed the chores of the farm and loved getting a treat at the end.  Hannah picked a Rice Krispie Treat while Grace got brownie bites (that’s my girl!).

Time for planting!

10Months old

We can’t believe that our son is now 10 months old… we are fast approaching the 12 month mark! YIKES!!  He is doing well – except that he doesn’t want to take naps this week!  He has recently learned to “give fives”, clap and put his hands up for Touch Down.  He cruises around the furniture ALL THE TIME!  Walking is just around the corner!  Watch out, world!

A Pest’s Nest

Danny found this nest 2 weeks ago when we had friends visiting.  One of the boys got stung so Danny went on a hunt to find the nest.  It was hanging under our deck.  After thoroughly spraying it, Danny hit it down so Grace and I could look at it.  It is really fascinating.   You can see the dead insects actually coming in or out of the holes and there is even one just sitting on top!  SO COOL!  Grace and I studied it a lot before letting Danny properly dispose of it!  All we can say is… God, that is really cool!

Birthday Boy!

Saturday was Mr. Jim’s birthday so we had to have him over for a proper birthday dinner the night before.  Jim is a man in our church who has adopted us as family since we moved to IA.  He brings us banana bread and makes us dinner.  He prays for us daily and we certainly appreciate all of them!

The girls really like Mr. Jim and Josiah even let him hold him for a LONG time on Friday night.  The girls and I made cupcakes and we put a few candles in them for Jim… he LOVED blowing out the candles.  He even had tears in his eyes when he left.  He commented that this was the best birthday he has had in years!  What a sweet man… we are so BLESSED to have him as a friend!

Yard Sale Fever

Yup… I have Yard Sale Fever!  I love yard sales… when I see one my heart begins to race and I crane my neck to see what they have.  I even get all excited just seeing a SIGN for a yard sale.  I LOVE that we have these sales THURSDAY, FRIDAY and SATURDAY from early May (or late April) through September!  That is a dream for a true yard-saler like me!
Friday was a dream come true for some one like me.  I have been looking and looking for boys clothes for Josiah..ones in good condition… sizes 12M- whatever.  That is harder than you think.  Boys are SO HARD on clothes!  I have seen SO MANY STAINS, SO MANY HOLES, and SO MANY THREAD-BARE pants and shirts.  So when I came across another yard sale with boys clothes I was trying to be optimistic that I could get a deal… I just didn’t know it would be this good.  I walked up the driveway with two kids in our double stroller and Grace walking with me (I don’t usually take them with me, but the development next to ours was having a community-wide sale and I just couldn’t wait til Saturday to go!).  I immediately saw a bin with a sign “10 cents each”.  Hmmm…. I NEED to check this one out!  As I pulled out each piece of clothing and checked it out, I was amazed that each item was in the 10 cent bin….really?  10 cents for that?  10 cents for this?  There were jackets, jeans, shirts, t-shirts, sweaters, etc. for all sizes ALL IN GREAT condition.  My pile kept growing and growing with sizes ranging from 12M-4T.  I wasn’t going to pass up on great prices, great condition and even some really great brands!
All I can say about this is JEHOVAN JIREH!!  My God provided once again!  I even told the lady who was hosting the sale that… she looked at me a little strangely!  That is ok with me.    Overall, I got close to 50 items for $6.40 – a few things were .50!  I think I have everything I need for Siah for 12M and 18M and 2T!!  YAHOO!  THANK YOU, LORD!!!

I even got this Ruby shirt from Ireland… I think my brothers and Josiah’s cousins will think it is pretty cool!  Yup…10 CENTS!!

BUSTED!!!

Yup!  Caught Red-Handed!  HA!
