Bubs is 2!

My baby is not my baby anymore!  He has rapidly been propelled into the little boy stage instead of the baby stage!  He is TWO….two just seems MUCH bigger than one.  We were thrilled to be able to celebrate his birthday with friends.  He had a “Choo-Choo I’m Two” theme since he LOVES trains!  He had a blast with friends, balloons, balls, the bouncy house, and FOOD, of course!  Here are a few pictures from the day!

These trains had the food inside them, including Cheese Curls which are my kids FAVORITE right now…

We even grabbed this train from church… the kids LOVED playing with it and taking pictures with it!  What a great addition to our day!

I made a special shirt for Caleb… he was just adorable!

We had a few activities planned for the little kids – it is so hard to find things that two-year olds like to do, but coloring always seems to be a hit!

Birds Unit

We are nearing the end of school with just a few last minute things to finish (we are about 95% done)!  YEAH!  We have had a great school year with many projects, activities, books, and MUCH KNOWLEDGE!  I have really liked the curriculum that we have used and will DEFINITELY be using it next year!  Bring on the fun!  To make our year complete, we just need to finish a few of the science units that we didn’t finish during the year – mostly things that we needed to be outside for or some things that were hard to do during winter, but all of the math, language arts, history, etc. is DONE!

We began our bird unit on Monday with a few books about birds and going to the store to get a new bird feeder and seeds and then continued on Tuesday with a closer look at robins.  Not only do we love robins because they remind us of Auntie Robin, we also have TONS of them around our house so they are easy to watch.  The kids already knew how to identify a robin, but they learned the differences in the male and females colors, that they eat about 14 FEET of worms everyday, and how a bird is formed inside the egg.  I even learned that the yolk of the egg is the food source for a growing baby bird…kind of like a placenta!

Today we got out our new bird feeder and filled it with seeds and then made another feeder using a soda bottle!  The kids LOVED helping, but we did get a lot of seed on the floor!

Caleb, you must put down the ball if you are going to help!

Then we took them out to the only tree in the yard that would work and hung them up!  The kids were excited to get them up…now we hope that the birds will like them!

While we were out there, we noticed a large bird’s nest in the tree.  The girls were SURE that it had to be one of the robins that we have seen in the tree!  It sure seems like it to me as well… We definitely will keep our eyes on the nest and these feeders!

When you are having fun like this, it really doesn’t feel like school! :)  I totally have them fooled!

Baby Shower in Florida!

A few weeks ago the girls and I had the JOY of going to Florida for my sister Robin’s baby shower!  We were THRILLED to go and it was so much fun.  I loved planning it with my mom and sister Karen and then seeing it all come together when I was finally in Florida.  Here are the pictures from the party!

The decorations:

This honey pot was made by my sister Karen and her friend Carrie!  I love how it turned out!
